The Directorate of Film Festivals has awarded him the National Award for his contribution to Indian Cinema, on three separate years (1995, 2005, 2007) through the Government of India.
BiographyAditya Chopra was born on 21 May 1971 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He did his schooling from Bombay Scottish School and his graduation from Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce and Economics with batchmates Karan Johar and Anil Thadani. Upcoming movie BefikreIn September 2015, YRF announced Chopra's directorial comeback, titled Befikre, which is scheduled for a 2016 release. The film features Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. The film will mark Chopra's return to the camera after around 7 years.

Chopra eventually went on to write the dialogues and the story for his father's 1997 blockbuster hit Dil To Pagal Hai. In 2002 under the Yash Raj Films banner, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai movie was released, which did moderately well at the box office.
