Aditya Chopra is an Indian film producer, screenwriter, director and distributor, who has won three-time National Award. His directorial movies include Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Mohabbatein (2000) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). He is also the current chairman of India's, multi-national film, media and entertainment conglomerate, Yash Raj Films (YRF). He has written and produced commercially successful films under this banner like Veer-Zaara (2004), Hum Tum (2004), Fanaa (2006), Chak De! India (2007) and many more films. The Directorate of Film Festivals has awarded him the National Award for his contribution to Indian Cinema, on three separate years (1995, 2005, 2007) through the Government of India.


Admirable director Aditya Chopra was born on 21 May 1971 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is the elder son of Pamela Chopra and the late Yash Chopra. He did his schooling from Bombay Scottish School and his graduation from Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce and Economics with batchmates Karan Johar and Anil Thadani. In his childhood, Aditya was very shy and preferred to keep to himself and developed a keen interest in watching films and writing stories.

Upcoming movie Befikre

In September 2015, YRF announced Chopra's directorial comeback, titled Befikre, which is scheduled for a 2016 release. The film features Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in lead roles. The film will mark Chopra's return to the camera after around 7 years.


Aditya Chopra, is the eldest son of film-maker late Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra. He has one younger brother Uday Chopra, who is also a famous bollywood actor. He has three cousins Ravi Chopra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Karan Johar, who were also close to the B-Town industry. Aditya was married to Payal Khanna in 2001, but later they were divorced.


Aditya has started his film making career at the age of 18 aiding as an assistant director, worked with his father for films like Chandni, Lamhe and Darr. After gaining a respectable amount of experience, he started independently at the age of 23, with the all time blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, for which he was the director and writer. The film has won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. His film "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" eventually went on to become one of the biggest hits of all time and won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Yash Raj Films

Chopra eventually went on to write the dialogues and the story of his father's 1997 blockbuster Dil To Pagal Hai, also made under Yash Raj Films. His next film as a director was Mohabbatein with Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. The film was also written and co-produced by Chopra and fared very well at the box office. In 2002 under the Yash Raj Films banner, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai movie was released, which did moderately well at the box office.


Aditya Chopra had romantically involved for few years with actress Rani Mukerji. Rani and Aditya got married in Italy on 21 April 2014. The marriage was said to be a hush hush one and the venue was chosen abroad and kept the media at bay. As per the sources, Rani Mukerji is currently pregnant.

Aditya Chopra has now came back with his upcoming movie Befikre, which will be released in January, 2016. As per the sources, this date coincides with the time that his wife, Rani Mukerji is expected to deliver their first baby. They celebrated their first wedding anniversary on April 21, 2015. According to the reports, Rani has made Adi go through a strict fitness regime since she moved into his home.
