In Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan HaiZarina Wahab has been approached to play a pivotal role in &TV's upcoming show Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai. The story will encompass three generations of two sisters whose lives revolve around music. The show stars Amrita Rao, Deepti Naval, Aditi Vasudev and Zarina Wahab. She will play the older counterpart of Aditi's character in the serial. Zarina and Deepti will play the third generation of the two sisters.
CareerZarina studied at FTII, Pune where she met Raj Kapoor who was not impressed with her looks. So Zarina worked on her appearance and attended film parties and events. That was the time when she got noticed and was casted in the movies. She had a major hit with Basu Chatterjee's flick Chit Chor (1976).
She also starred in Gharonda (1977) which earned her a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress for this role. She has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam films and has become fluent in Malayalam. She made a comeback to Malayalam movies with the film Calendar, which released in 2009. She prefers Telugu films and has encouraged her daughter Sana to start out acting in a South Indian film.
