"Mahabharat" a mythological saga is one of the most popular series on star plus. This is the second time that "Mahabharat" is being recreated on celluloid. The first series, produced by B.R. Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra in 1988, which went on till 1990. The project is being produced by Siddharth Tewary of Swastik Pictures. The show has garnered a weekly rating of 6356 TVTs (6.3 million viewers).
A Star India spokesperson claimed Mahabharat has garnered the highest TV ratings among all TV shows of the last three years. The company bet heavily on Mahabharat and is known to have spent close to Rs 20 crore on its marketing alone.
The epic hit the right chord with the youth getting a massive 849 TVTs amongst females 15 to 24 and 574 TVTs in males 15 to 24.
